Suggestions For Kava Experts
So you are a kava expert, eh? Maybe you think you are an expert but you really are not? Maybe you are just like the thousands of other Americans who think that "Stronger is Better". Is this theory correct when it comes to kava? What is the true definition of kava expert? We will attempt to answer these questions so you do not waste your money by buying products that you do not need.
What Is A Kava Expert?
We have run a kava bar for a living for the last 7 years now. We have processed over 20 tons of kava over the years from Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, and Hawaii. We can tell you the names of almost every species of kava we have tried from each region. We have traveled around the world and drank kava in dozens of kava bars. We are kava experts. Since there are only a few kava bars in the US and a few large scale dealers we don't expect everyone to be authorities on kava. In fact, most people in the U.S. are still hearing about kava for the first time in their lives at this point because kava is just starting to gain popularity. So what does it take to be a kava expert? If you don't say yes to at least 3 of our criteria below you should come back to this page when you can for monetary values sake:
1. You have been drinking kava so long you cannot drink more than 5 shells at a time or the effects are too strong. NOTE- If you do not get a strong effect from the kava you are not an expert and should move on to another page.
2. You have made over 20 gallons (80 liters) of kava by hand squeezing- instant kava does not count here!
3. You have tried kava from at least 3 countries and can note the differences in the effects of each one.
4. You have drank too much kava at least once to the point where you lost your legs and could not walk.
5. You have drank kava in at least one kava bar somewhere in the world.
6. You stopped taking kava pills long ago because you prefer to drink kava.
7. You drink your kava out of a coconut shell every time.
8. You have drank fresh, green kava juice.
9. You have seen up close or at least held whole kava root.
10. You know the scientific name of kava and its meaning.
Above are just some general guidlelines but you get the drift...
Is Stronger Better?
We get asked this question in our kava bar every day. For the most part the answer is, no, stronger is not better regarding kava when it comes to users who have little experience with it. Americans have a tendency to overcompensate when it comes to things and this is an instance when it will give you no benefit. Well, we shouldn't say no benefit. We have seen some instances where giving new customers really strong kava seemed to jumpstart their systems for kava and they felt it on their first try. This does not happen to everyone. Some people end up feeling nauseous after drinking kava that is too strong and would have been better off drinking more entry level kava.
