WE NO LONGER SHIP KAVA TO CANADA. Sorry, but we can no longer afford to be held responsible for excessive duty fees being charged to our customers to import kava into Canada by using UPS as a shipping agent.
We buy only the most mature & highest quality kava roots from Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Tonga and Hawaii. We buy our kava straight from the farmers themselves so it is fresh and potent. This ensures that it is as fresh as possible when it arrives at the customers home or in their shell at the kava bar.
We are constantly receiving large shipments of fresh kava from the south Pacific. Last shipment recieved on June 8, 2010. Plenty of fresh kava root is in stock and always will be at Nakamal At Home.
Only the finest Solomon Islands kava that is a minimum of 5 years old is used in this special blend consisting of 40% crown root and 60% lateral root. This kava kava is considered to be the strongest kava in the Solomon Islands and is good for everyday drinking. This mixture is strong enough to provide relaxing effects but not too strong for weekday consumption. This variety of kava is nambawan (#1) in the Solomons.
This kava powder has a very peppery and slightly woody smell to it as well as a peppery taste. The color of this kava powder is very light and it produces a beverage that is light in color as well. This is because there is less bark on the chips than on the roots. Good luck finding this kava online or anywhere else in the U.S. We had a very difficult time sourcing this stuff.

Are you looking for an exotic kava that is different tasting and with different effects than other types of kavas? Then try some kava from the Kingdom of Tonga. Tongan kava is usually light in color and has a more woody taste than do other types of kava from the south Pacific. Getting kava out of Tonga is a bit more challenging than other places because there is no large kava infrastructure in place to move kava in a commercial capacity. The best kava comes from the islands of Vava'u and Tofua. These islands are pretty remote and if you want kava in large quantities you have to know someone who is motivated and brave enough to go by boat and get it- which we do. There are over 36 underwater volcanoes off the coast where this kava comes from and getting this kava is risky business. Try some today, it's fabulous.

KAVA BOWLS
These kava bowls that we sell are authentic. We import the coconut shells from the south Pacific so they are ultra authentic. Each one of these kava bowls is handmade by an indigenous Melenesian, most likely by using a machete. These kava bowls are then sealed by using an FDA approved sealer so that they can be steralized each time. Drinking kava out of anything other than a coconut shell kava bowl is like drinking fine wine out of a soup bowl. Buy one of these kava bowls today to start your bonafide kava adventure.

KAVA PREPARATION CLOTH
A kava preparation cloth is neccesary to make kava properly. Many people use other things to strain kava juice but our nylon kava preparation cloths are by far the best option available. We recommend using 2 cloths at time to increase the strength of the cloth so it does not tear when you are wringing out the kava.

LECITHIN GRANULES
Soy lecithin granules really help to help you feel the effects of the kava. It is not totally neccesary to use these granules if you do not want to but we are sure that using them makes the kava more potent. The oily properties of the lecithin granules activates the kavalactones (active ingredients) and makes them more readily available to your body. They also emulsify the kava juice so that it is smoother and homogenous.

Non-Kava Wares
Call us crazy but not everything that we sell has kava in it. We are greedy, American, capitalist entrepreneurs that sell products that really work and make sense. Well they make sense to us anyway. We hope you agree. Below you will find our ever growing assortment of products that we sell that have nowhere else to live. Don't tell them we said that, they are sensitive.

The yerba mate plant is a small tree native to the subtropical highlands of southern Brazil, northern Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It is a member of the holly family, Ilex paraguariensis. The Guarani and Quechua peoples of the region have been drinking infusions of yerba mate since pre-Columbian times. According to their traditions, it is the gift of a benevolent god.
Across southern South America, yerba mate tea is more popular than coffee and black tea. From the gaucho cowboys of the Argentine pampas to university students in Santiago, yerba mate tea is the beverage of choice for stimulation, nutrition, and social gatherings. It has recently gained popularity in Europe, Asia, and North America as a healthy alternative to coffee and Chinese tea.
