This Papua New Guinea kava is not quite as strong as our Chief's Jungle kava but it is pretty close. In Niugini (pronounced knee-ew guinea) many types of kava grow in the jungle. Papua New Guinea is thought to be the birth place of kava by many because there are so many different chemotypes of kava there. Only Vanuatu has more species of kava. This kava comes from the Madang region of PNG which is on the north coast. We suspect that this kava is Isa kava or some related strain.

The taste of this kava is similar to our chiefs Jungle kava but it does not quite have the aroma or bite that the Chief's carries. It is easier to drink as a result. This kava is pretty potent and makes a great kava party beverage. This kava does not have the heavy sleepy effect that the Chief's kava can give people.
