We have just received several shipments of fresh kava root. We have some Chief's Jungle kava from a new source in Papua New Guinea. This kava is a little bit lighter in color than what we get from our regular supplier because it was processed for the Fijian market and a lot of the bark was removed in the process which makes it lighter because the bark on this kava is really dark. This kava was soaked overnight in cold water to make it very clean and it is not quite as pungent tasting or smelling as our normal kava because of that. The customers at the kava bar report that this kava seems to be easier on the stomach though probably because the kavalactone that causes nausea was lessened in the soaking process. Farmers in Vanuatu soak tuday kava in water overnight to lessen the tudei effect of the kava for this same reason. It's easier to drink. We have a fresh shipment from PNG on the way from our regular supplier as well so there will be plenty of Papua New Guinea kava here for the rest of the year.
